Nuwara Eliya and Ella are two mountain towns especially famous for beautiful green tea plantations situated nearby.
Today tea is the main srilankan export good but actually it had been brought from Assam when the Ceylon coffee plantations had been destroyed by disease.
All the tea needs to grow up it's warm enough climate and the mountain terrain. that's why there's so many tea plantations in Sri Lanka. Tea grows on a bush. It's necessary to cut the bushes, because they could grow up to 10 meters! It is pick up by Tamil women, who are able to pick from 16 to 20 kilograms of tea per day.
